Lightweight Potting Soil

EarthWorks Lightweight Potting Soil is a quality mix that creates an ideal growing environment for all container planting conditions and is excellent as a complete soil replacement. This Lightweight Potting Soil is specifically formulated for on-structure planting providing a low saturated bulk density. The balance between soil moisture retention, drainage and promoting rapid plant establishment are all made possible by precisely mixing quality components.

EarthWorks Lightweight Potting Soil has been carefully blended with premium peat moss, vermiculite and silica sand. The sand and vermiculite provide proper drainage and aeration in the root zone, prevent soil compaction, and provide the anchorage necessary to sustain large plants and trees. The peat moss provides the organic matter necessary to retain vital nutrients and minerals while contributing to the moisture retention aspect of the mix.

EarthWorks Lightweight Potting Soil is suitable for all indoor and outdoor container planting. It is an ideal soil for acid loving plants , as it provides a moderately low pH.

PLANTING RECOMMENDATIONS:
On Structure Planting:
Place perforated pipes with filter fabric around drainage pipes. Apply 6-12” of ¾” crushed rock over the top of drain lines. Fill planters with EarthWorks Lightweight Potting Soil in 12” lifts, moisten and compact between each lift. Note: A 15% shrinkage factor should be anticipated.

Small Container Planting:
Drainage holes in planters and containers are critical for a plant’s long term well-being. Place pebbles or broken pottery over the drainage holes. Position the plant in the container and firmly press EarthWorks Lightweight Potting Soil into place under and around the rootball. Water thoroughly.
